The New 2017 Mazda CX-5 Crossover

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover SUV that fills the slot between subcompact and full-size utility vehicles. It's entering the second generation with a sharper appearance all around, as well as safety and technology features that make it a compelling buy. While it's grown up somewhat, the new CX-5 is still one of the liveliest crossovers in the class.

New Additions

The Mazda CX-5 has been completely redesigned for 2017. The previous 2.0L gas engine and manual gearbox are gone, being replaced by a more robust 2.5L combo. A diesel-powered model is expected to come later this model year.

The Test Drive

The new CX-5 crossover has made its mark as a one of the best-looking SUVs on the market, not to mention one of the best to take out on the road. However, what it lacks in brute force, it makes up in agility. Steering feel is crisp, and Sport mode provides additional responsiveness through various powertrain optimizations. Ride quality has been significantly improved, and the vehicle's suspension is able to absorb the road's bumps and flaws.

Interior Views

All new models have two seating rows to accommodate five passengers, but fitting three adults in the back row can be a bit of a squeeze. Child safety seat installation is easier, though, thanks to wider-opening rear doors. With push-button starting and a seven-inch infotainment screen as standard equipment, the new Mazda is ideal for busy families with small children.

Exterior

While it's always been a good-looking vehicle, the new version is one of the segment's classiest. Like its bigger brother, the CX-9, the CX-5 has a trapezoidal grille, bright LED headlights and a flowing design that makes it look tough, yet refined. To take a closer look, visit Werner Mazda today.

Engine and Transmission

The 2017 CX-5 has just one engine option: the 2.5L, four-cylinder gas-powered model from the previous generation. Mated to a six-speed auto transmission, the engine isn't the most powerful in the class, but it provides respectable numbers. During the second half of the model year, Mazda plans to introduce a diesel-powered model with a 2.2L, four-cylinder that's known for its fuel efficiency and torque.

The new CX-5 is a compelling choice in the compact crossover market, and there's no better time to buy. To get a great deal on leasing or financing, or to take a test drive in a Mazda CX-5 for sale, visit the team at Werner Mazda.
